Mamelodi Community Garden Project.
Ten participants were chosen to be trained in hydroponic gardening in Mamelodi. Derelict and neglected tunnels behind a school were selected and upgraded through funding from National Lotteries Commission. JoJo Tanks sponsored tanks and MayFord sponsored seed. The participants received training and was monitored weekly by the Department of Agricultures social ecologist. They succeeded in producing vegetables and selling to local super markets and vendors.
Montana Hydroponic Gardening
Youths from Soshanguve were trained in Hydroponics with the assistance from the National Lotteries Commission. Two training tunnels were erected with irrigation. The youth went through 8 week training in hydroponics, business, packaging and marketing. We continued to mentor them for a further 8 weeks to ensure success.
